Not many SB teams have had a shut down corner because they are the rarest type of player in the game. There may be 5 in the history of the game. Just because no one has done/attempt it, doesn't mean you can't build a championship team around the best secondary in then leauge with cro, revis, and landry. Hell, we all agree that speed and offense is the future of the leauge, what better way to stop that than an all time great secondary? Pass rushers don't affect running qbs as much.

This is the ongoing theme here...Yes, we would love to have a great secondary...but you have to score points to win, they can not hold NFL teams to 17 points week in and week out.

The Jets must spend their money on offensive weapons. If you put about a quarter of your entire on the secondary you can't afford to high impact players elsewhere.

That's life: when you (happen to) draft a great player, eventually they get expensive. Idzik is going to have to make the call.

And people should understand what a 'cap guy' means - because I personally think it goes much deeper than someone who can add numbers up. I think a good cap guy sees the interface of budget/spending/talent and 'gets' the notion of who to pay when and how much - all within the context of what the team needs to be successful. So - let's give Idzik a chance before bemoaning his perceived lack of personnel skills. We don't just need a Bert Sugar-like insider around here chomping on a cigar and going on about his gut on a guy - someone actually has to see clearly the real ramifications of the game.

For all his 'cap-guy' status, Tanny clearly lost the thread. Hopefully ownership was perceptive enough to notice and it's one reason we have Idzik - hybrid cap guy - in as someone seemingly qualified to clean up this mess.
That's nonsense. Revis is the best CB in the league by far. In fact the difference between Revis and whoever you wanna call 2nd best is probably greater than the difference between #2 and #20. Hes 27 and players come back from acl's without any ill effects these days. Revis has a ton of trade value, just as he did before the injury.

As for our cap issues, they begin and end with Samchez. It's a one year issue that resolves itself. We didn't need a cap genius for that.
