Torre to manage Dodgers; Mattingly will be his bench coach
By PETER ABRAHAM
THE JOURNAL NEWS

The Los Angeles Dodgers have decided to fire manager Grady Little and replace him with former Yankees manager Joe Torre, The Journal News has learned.

Torre, 67, could be named manager as soon as tomorrow, according to two sources close to the situation. Don Mattingly is expected to accompany Torre to Los Angeles as his bench coach. Torre is also interested in hiring Kevin Long, his hitting coach with the Yankees.

The Dodgers were 82-80 this season under Little and were beset by clubhouse unrest. Owner Frank McCourt, a Boston native, decided Torre is best suited to quell that situation.

Torre turned down a one-year offer to remain as manager of the Yankees on Oct. 18. He had been with the Yankees 12 seasons, winning four World Series championships.
This off season is getting better and better....

I wouldn't be surprised if A-Rod, Jorgie, and Mo follows them there.

Seeing Mattingly and Torre in another uniform will be tough to see.

By the way Scott Proctor is ****ed! I'm sure JWF will enjoy this one. LOL

Goddamnit Sean, like A-Rod did to the Sox, you stole my thunder with some sort of Proctor joke.

Anyways, there's no way they go after Jorge as they have the best young catcher in baseball in Russell Martin already. I think I'd take Martin over any catcher in the game right now, and that includes Mauer. And they won't go after Mo because they have Saito. Unless they want to spend $13M a year on Mo and move Saito to the pen with Broxton, but I doubt they do that.

The way this off season is unfolding... I wouldn't be shocked if they all go to LA.

A-Rod only if the Dodgers offer him the most money. I think we all have figured out what A-Rod is after here. They won't be going after Jorge given Martin. I doubt they go after Mo given Saito, but they would have to outbid the Yanks to get him, and I doubt that happens.

Why? Yankees could have had both those guys. But they passed. They got the man they wanted...

People here know I'm a big Torre supporter but at the end of the day I'm a Yankee fan first and foremost. I am happy with the decision of hiring Joe Girardi.
