BREAKING NEWS: Tannenbaum finished as Jets GM

Official word should come Monday.

http://www.jetsinsider.com/blogs/sean_deegan/

Tony Pauline of SI.com and Publisher our sister site DraftInsider.net has confided to JetsInsider.com that his sources have informed him that Mike Tannenbaum will be re-assigned within the Jets organization as early as Monday.

It appears that Mike Tannenbaum's tenure as Jets GM will end as early as Monday. (JetsInsider.com Photo)

The source was not clear what Tannenbaum’s new role within the organization will be at this time.

The team will then immediately commence their search for a new general manager and sources expect several interviews to take place immediately.

League insiders have told Pauline the ability of the Jets to draw in the general manager of their choice may hinge on the willingness of owner Woody Johnson to give full power to the new General Manager.

And the re-shuffling of the deck chairs on the Titanic begins. If you're going to fire him, fire him. You don't see other successful organizations doing this. And why would any top GM candidate want to come someplace where the man he replaced is still on the payroll?

We know hes done. The only question was is he going to accept the offer to be reassigned. Im hoping he declines that offer.

I thought we knew this already.

Is there an opening in the mailroom, or perhaps they need a gofer? Maybe a secretary?

Bad move to "reassign" him. What half decent GM would take a job with its predecessor still around.

Thanks Sooth

Tanenbaum is the fall guy for the season. Woody was the driving force behind the Tebow disaster and if he outright fires Tanenbaum he will go to the media and expose what happened behind the Tebow trade.

I'd be shocked if we got someone big like Polian or Parcells. Our best hope is Joey Clinkscales, the guy who was forced out of the FO because he wanted nothing to do with Tebow, gets hired as GM and performs well.

What a gutless asinine move by keeping him the organization. Two former GMs still in the organization. It is laughable that this organization thinks its a good idea to keep reassigning guys instead of firing them.

Despite this season, Tannenbaum's full circle of work has been extremely sub-par. If there needs to be a fall guy for this team's demise, he deserves to be first on the list.

He's not a football guy. He's a capologist which is where he should be re-assigned back to doing exclusively.

....and the new GM won't want a head coach that belonged to someone else like Rex Ryan, so when will Tony Pauline break the story that Rex is gone on Monday too?

Yes. When it came down to it, WJ didn't have guts to fire a friend.

Woody needs to be a bigger *******. If the quality of his Q-Tips drops does he reaasign the Q-tip guy to baby oil or does he can him. Have bradway pack Tannys bags then fire them both

+1 If accurate, absolutely classic SOJ move. Boot Tannenbaum, Bradway, and the rest of the clowns out of Florham Park.

Well somebody's going to take the job. Tanny took it when Bradway got reassigned.

LOL, like i have posted before. The yankees have done this before. Specifically with Gene Michael. You don't think the Yankees are successful?

If the candidate is Clinkscales, he is the football personnel guy that might make the decisions. He was let go for not accepting the Tebow trade (shows a good decision by him) and he has experience in football personnel.
