Why the owners collusion will be bad for the league

Teams are definitely colluding on what thy are going to pay free agents for the most part and are sticking to it. Sure it saves teams cap room so they can sign more players. But the problem is when a free agent knows he is getting the same money everywhere he will likely sign with a contender creating less parity.

There is not collusion. Payrolls are getting top heavy. QBs getting huge deals.

The problem is that the vet min is too high.

Collusion saves owners from their own stupidity, creating more parity, not less. Lack of parity is caused by reckless FA spending, it is not remedied by it.

What it will get you is a game with no punts, on side kicks, hard hits, fake girlfriends, or QB sacks.

Here's hoping that GS3 under center, and Coples on the edge works out.

There's a salary cap, and every team gets 53 players. When you have too many FAs at a particular position, in a particular year, they will be paid less. Also a lot of teams have been burnt lately on big FA deals. It's as simple as that.

If the salary cap remains relatively level over the next few years, how those large QB deals affect their teams will be very interesting. It really gives a leg up to teams with qb's in their rookie deals who have spent wisely across the roster.

In the end the reason why players are having a hard time finding suitors in free agency is the top heavy salaries ... so few earning so much.

Bullseye, and in two years SF and Seattle will be dismembering thier teams if the cap does not explode by 15% in 2015.

As for parity, this leveling of salaries will just increase it. So now a team can have a great vet qb, but if you do that cap hit will severely limit the talent he can be surrounded with. As the average price of a good FA goes from say 5mill in years past to 3 mill. if the home team offers 1 mill less the guy may not move. If the average becomes 3 mill and the home teams offer is the same 1 mill less the percentage diff is much greater leading to more movement.

Here I thought it was because collusion is illegal and if found guilty the fines would be huge.
