Rams running back Steven Jackson was listed on the injury report today as “doubtful” for Sunday’s game with the Jets after Jackson was unable to practice this week due to a quad injury. But even though St. Louis did not declare Jackson out for the game on their report, interim head coach Jim Haslett announced that the former Pro Bowl running back will not play.

With backup Antonio Pittman (hamstring) and Travis Minor (concussion) listed as “questionable” for Sunday, Kenneth Darby will receive the start. Darby played in one game with the Buccaneers (two carries for nine yards) last season after he was drafted in the seventh round (246th overall) out of Alabama in the 2007 NFL Draft. Darby was released by the Buccaneers Aug. 30, 2008. On Sept. 1, 2008, he was signed to the Falcons’ practice squad where he remained for the first six weeks of the season. Darby did not appear in a game with the Falcons and was signed by the Rams on Oct. 14.
