The Jets special teams unit took a big blow today as LB Larry Izzo was placed on IR.  Izzo, who totaled 18 special teams tackles in his first season with Gang Green, had missed some time this week with a neck injury which appears to be more serious than once thought.  There is no further word on the extent of the injury at this time.

The team also announced that they have signed LB Josh Mauga and C Michael Parenton to the practice squad.  Mauga, a four-year starter at Nevada, was originally signed by the Jets in August but was cut in September.  Parenton started 46 games for Tulane at various offensive line positions, and was cut by the Jets at the end of training camp in August.
