Florham Park, N.J.– With the lockout still looming the majority of fans know that the draft at the end of this month might be the last football related activity they get to enjoy for awhile.
So to make the draft a little more interesting, the Jets announced today that they will select one lucky fan to announce the Jets fourth round draft pick and be the first to welcome said player to his new team.
Fans can enter this contest by logging onto newyorkjets.com, the sweepstakes start on Thursday, April 7 and the lucky fan will get to stand at the podium and introduce the pick to the team on the third day of the draft, Saturday, April 30.
For everyone who isn’t fortunate enough to win this unique prize the Jets still want to do something to make the draft a special celebration for their fans. For the second year straight year the Jets will host, what is now becoming an annual event, a draft party for their fans at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Thursday, April 28.
Not to worry fans, this is one thing the Jets won’t be charging you for admission and the draft party is open to anyone. Fans will fill the seats in the lower level of the stadium and will be treated to appearances by Jets alumni as well as cheerleaders. On the field, ‘Jets Fest,’ will be set up to keep kids entertained and according to the Jets, there will be “great photo opportunities for all.”
The parking lot to the stadium will open at 6:00 p.m. with the draft party starting at 7:30 p.m., which will be presented by New York Daily news, Pepsi Max, Toyota and Verizon.
