Starting Slow: Jets Need to Quickly Fix Offensive Line’s Struggles

In the Jets’ 19-14 Week 1 loss to the Panthers, the team had their fair share of struggles. The defense gave up 381 yards of total offense and struggled with the likes of Christian McCaffrey, D.J Moore, and Robby Anderson. Yet, most of the yards and points came in the first half; the Jets defense…

Jets haunted by ghost from their past, beaten by Panthers 19-14

The Robert Saleh-Zach Wilson era got off to a rocky start as Sam Darnold, once fearful of ghosts, became a vengeful shade himself and haunted his former team as the Panthers took down the Jets 19-14. The first half was…bad. Like really bad. Zach Wilson was erratic…probably not as bad as the stats showed but…

Game Preview: Jets (0-0) at Panthers (0-0)

What’s the best thing about the 2021 season opening? It means the 2020 season and Adam Gase is ancient history. New coach, new quarterback and… new hope? Temper that hope. Make that hope stretch. Too much hope in too little time is bound to lead to disappointment. The hope is in the future, just not…

Leaders of the Team: How Each of Jets’ 2021 Captains Earned Their Role

Throughout the preseason, the Jets have worked to establish new pieces alongside their returning players. With a revamped coaching staff and new schemes on both offense and defense, the team needed leaders to step up and set the tone for the upcoming season. With the season beginning this Sunday, Head Coach Robert Saleh announced the…

Jets’ Decision to Roll with Young Corners Shows a Further Commitment to Development

Early in camp, Bless Austin was a core part of the Jets’ defense. Austin was consistently getting first-team reps, across from second-year cornerback Bryce Hall, and was seemingly separating himself from the rest of the positional group. As mentioned in an earlier article on August 12, Robert Saleh said Austin had “a dog’s mentality” and…

Jets Rally Back to Tie Eagles 31-31 in Final Preseason Game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – If this was the preseason finale, imagine what the actual season will look like. Pregame, apocalyptic flooding eventual subsiding to a Hail Mary to tie the game with no time left. This was way too much drama for a simple preseason game. James Morgan took the field with 1:38 to go…

Next Man Up: Jamien Sherwood is Looking to Fill the Jets’ Linebacker Void

During the off-season, the Jets addressed the linebacker position by signing former Lion Jarrad Davis. Possessing the size and quickness that is valued in Robert Saleh’s defensive scheme, the Jets were hoping they could help Davis capitalize on the potential that made him a former first-round pick. Unfortunately, Davis suffered an ankle injury that will…

Zach Wilson is Living in ‘the Process’

After the Jets’ second preseason game, a 23-14 victory against the Packers, all anyone could talk about was Quarterback Zach Wilson. The rookie completed 9-of-11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, both to tight end Tyler Kroft, and had a 154.7 passer rating. Wilson was quick and decisive when playing within structure, and showed…

Zach Wilson Shines in Jets 23-14 Preseason Win Over Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. – For the second straight week the Jets played a preseason game against mostly backups. More importantly though, Zach Wilson looked good for the second week in a row. Only this time he looked great. Wilson finished the game 9/11 for 128 yards (11.6 YPA), two touchdowns and no turnovers or sacks….

Denzel Mims is Powering Through Adversity in Training Camp

Up to this point in camp, a popular narrative has surround one of the Jets’ 2020 draft selections. Second-year receiver, Denzel Mims, has been the subject of this scrutiny, as he spent the beginning of camp mostly running with the sec and and third-team offense. Rumors swirled about his standing on the team, with onlookers…

GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the sea GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the season, nothing has gone right for the Jets this year. Losing their starting quarterback to mono has grabbed most of the attention but even when Sam Darnold returns there will still be a glaring problem making his life harder. That problem is this offensive line has been a disaster. On defense the Jets have some issues at cornerback and obviously miss the presence of C.J. Mosley, but the defense has mostly help up. Losing Quincy Enunwa and dealing with Chris Herndon’s suspension (he will be available to return after the Eagles game) has left the backup quarterbacks with Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder and Braxton Berrios as the receiving options. But by far the biggest problem has been the play of the offensive line. Read more of Chris Nimbley’s article on www.jetsinsider.com Photo by @manishgosalia #nyjets #newyorkjets
