Jets haunted by ghost from their past, beaten by Panthers 19-14

The Robert Saleh-Zach Wilson era got off to a rocky start as Sam Darnold, once fearful of ghosts, became a vengeful shade himself and haunted his former team as the Panthers took down the Jets 19-14. The first half was…bad. Like really bad. Zach Wilson was erratic…probably not as bad as the stats showed but…

Jets conclude draft with Kentucky CB Brandin Echols and Arkansas DT Jonathan Marshall

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: the Jets used a pair of late round picks on defenders with impressive athletic profiles.  The Jets clearly hope to strike gold by getting players have the athletic potential to play above their draft slot. You buy enough lottery tickets, you’re sure to hit the jackpot at…

NFL Draft Preview: Linebackers

Well it’s Draft Day, Kevin Costner be praised. Last year the Jets had the luxury of having their needs line up perfectly with the various strengths of the draft (offensive tackle in the top ten, wide receiver in the second round). This year, they aren’t so lucky. The top edge rushers are projected to go…

NFL Draft Preview: Wide Receivers

So you may have heard, but there’s a draft coming up. A lot of the focus is going to be on surrounding alleged #2 pick Zach Wilson with the talent he needs to grow and develop unlike that last guy…Sean? Steve? I’m blanking on his name. In any case, when building around quarterbacks, the discussion…

Jets Free Agency Grades: Day 1

I’m not sure if you heard, but the Jets welcomed three new additions to their roster on the first day of free agency. For the past two years, the team has stressed making smart moves instead of splashy ones…finding value where no one else was looking. Their conservative approach led to missing out on some…

ASSESSING THE FREE AGENT OFFENSIVE LINE MARKET

During his brief tenure, Joe Douglas has thus far employed a measured and conservative approach to free agency. He hasn’t dolled out enormous globs of guaranteed money, he’s targeted cheaper value players to fill specific roles and he’s avoided the big ticket free agents. It’s a smart blueprint! It’s an approach most smart teams employ,…

The best head coaching candidate that you’ve never heard of

Well, Adam Gase has finally been banished to the shadowy void from whence he came. As the Jets look to turn the page on what was perhaps the worst era in this history of Jets football, it’s worth asking: “how did that even happen?” and perhaps more importantly: “how do we make sure it never…

Jets brutalized by the Adams Family, 40-3

You already know who won this game. You knew who was going to win this game before the opening kickoff. What you maybe didn’t know is that it would happen in such embarrassing and one sided fashion. Let’s get into it.  The Jets moved the ball well on their first drive, but then like a…

Jets lose eleventh straight game, surprising absolutely no one

Let’s just get this over with.  Today, the Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins. It was their eleventh straight loss, bringing them one step closer to the first overall pick and me one step closer to the brink of insanity. You want a recap of this game? The first half can be summed up in…

Jets shift tank into Hyperdrive, overcome near victory at hands of New England

No matter the circumstances, no matter the odds, the great ones always find a way. Overcoming valiant efforts from their rookie class, Harvey Langi, and Joe Flacco (kinda) the Jets demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are truly the best at being the worst; they fell to the New England Patriots 30-27,…

GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the sea GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the season, nothing has gone right for the Jets this year. Losing their starting quarterback to mono has grabbed most of the attention but even when Sam Darnold returns there will still be a glaring problem making his life harder. That problem is this offensive line has been a disaster. On defense the Jets have some issues at cornerback and obviously miss the presence of C.J. Mosley, but the defense has mostly help up. Losing Quincy Enunwa and dealing with Chris Herndon’s suspension (he will be available to return after the Eagles game) has left the backup quarterbacks with Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder and Braxton Berrios as the receiving options. But by far the biggest problem has been the play of the offensive line. Read more of Chris Nimbley’s article on www.jetsinsider.com Photo by @manishgosalia #nyjets #newyorkjets
