“With the sixth pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select…” At that point, every Jets fan will be sitting on the edge of their seat, waiting to hear Roger Goodell announce the name of the guy who will be the Jets’ first pick of 2017, the name that could very well…
We are well into mock draft season and many of you may know my feelings on mock drafts but even more of you probably do not. Mock drafts are awesome and fun, but also pointless. I don’t do mock drafts myself because I won’t pretend to know for sure what the Jets are going to…
The cards have been stacked against him. Todd Bowles knows his hand isn’t the best one at the table. Yet, that still won’t force him to fold early. No, this head coach is going to compete to the very end – even if it is one big bluff. On Tuesday, the Jets head coach addressed…
Every year as the draft approaches the classic debate emerges, should you draft the best player available or draft for need. Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is a proponent of the best player available strategy – also the correct strategy – and he should be even more so this year. With the Jets having so many…
On Monday Rex Ryan said Stephen Hill will play in the final preseason game against the Eagles on Thursday night. On Tuesday ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Jets tried to trade Hill earlier in the offseason. Obviously the Jets didn’t find any takers in their quest to trade Hill, but what we don’t know…
Last year Sheldon Richardson dominated the headlines in rookie camp, instantly earned the affection of the coaching staff and teammates and also became both a fan and media favorite. With their only fifth round pick the Jets drafted inside linebacker, Jeremiah George, from Iowa State. George is 5’11 1/4″, 234 lbs, and ran an average (for linebackers) 40 of 4.91. He has 33 1/4″ arm length, put up an impressive 28 reps in the bench (worst for linebackers was 18, 30 was the most),…
The Jets have a busy day today with nine total picks on the day. They started off with three fourth round picks where they finally drafted a receiver and chased that pick down with a second receiver and a guard to close out the round for them. The first receiver they took was Jalen Saunders…
With their third round pick the Jets selected cornerback Dexter McDougle from Maryland. McDougle is a fast, (4.49 40), potential play-making/ballhawking corner, but missed a large chunk of playing time in college due to a variety of injuries. McDougle suffered a season-ending shoulder injury last year and broke his collarbone in a scooter accident in…
