Jets Positional Preview: Offensive Line

The Jets offensive line was a weak spot for the Jets last year, and I’m personally still haunted by this play from 2016, which can only be described as “how not to play offensive line”. The Jets offensive line is ranked 31st by Pro Football Focus coming into the 2018 season, and for good reason….

Nick Mangold celebrates retirement

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – Nick Mangold was – by every definition – a throwback player who played his entire 11-year career with only one team and now number 74 will never be worn again by a Jets player. One day the Jets will retire Mangold’s jersey and he will enter the Jets Ring of Honor with…

Jets’ Mangold Retires

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – Long time former Jets center Nick Mangold officially announced his retirement today. The 34 year old Mangold was cut by the Jets in February of last year after eleven seasons with Gang Green due to a lingering foot/ankle injury. The injury continued to hamper Mangold after his release which led him…

BREAKING: Jets release longtime LB David Harris

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – In a move surprising to some and not so surprising to others, the Jets continued their youth movement by cutting 10 year starting LB David Harris. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted this morning that the cut was coming and this afternoon confirmed that Harris had indeed been released. Another roster surprise: Jets…

The NFL Draft: A time of hope and optimisim, even for the Jets

Stop me if you heard this before: the New York Jets are in the midst of a rebuild. Sound familiar? As you prepare for another season of vanilla football at a half-empty stadium, you do have something to look forward to as the NFL Draft approaches Thursday evening. For this day represents a time in the sport…

Jets pushing all the right buttons, fully embracing the rebuild

For years, the New York Jets offered Band-Aid solutions to gash-sized problems. One year of Brett Favre? Two years of Ryan Fitzpatrick? It got you upset. It annoyed you. The never-ending search for a franchise quarterback only became more of a glaring need for an organization starved of success with those two examples. The New York…

Destroy And Rebuild

FLORHAM PARK, NJ – General manager Mike Maccagnan took my advice (okay, not really but he at least agreed with the advice I gave him that he never actually saw/heard) and has decided to burn everything down and start what will/should be a slow, methodical rebuild. In other words, he’s going to attempt to perform…

GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the sea GASE HINTS AT CHANGES TO THE OL. At 0-3 on the season, nothing has gone right for the Jets this year. Losing their starting quarterback to mono has grabbed most of the attention but even when Sam Darnold returns there will still be a glaring problem making his life harder. That problem is this offensive line has been a disaster. On defense the Jets have some issues at cornerback and obviously miss the presence of C.J. Mosley, but the defense has mostly help up. Losing Quincy Enunwa and dealing with Chris Herndon’s suspension (he will be available to return after the Eagles game) has left the backup quarterbacks with Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder and Braxton Berrios as the receiving options. But by far the biggest problem has been the play of the offensive line. Read more of Chris Nimbley’s article on www.jetsinsider.com Photo by @manishgosalia #nyjets #newyorkjets
