East Rutherford, NJ – Lou Holtz once said, “You’re never as good as everyone tells you when you win, and you’re never as bad as they say when you lose.” That couldn’t be any more fitting coming off the high of the Monday night win in Atlanta, to today’s 19-6 stinker to the now 1-4 Steelers. The Jets sit at 3-3, having yet…
Florham Park, NJ – This is what football types like to call a trap game. The Jets, coming off an impressive comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, are at home on a short week to take on the winless Steelers. It seems like a gimme win, a no-brainer, a tune-up before Tom Brady…
Florham Park, NJ – The moment the Jets drafted Geno Smith, the clock started on Mark Sanchez’s time left in green and white. Late last night, his time ran out – unofficially, at least. The Jets announced late Tuesday that Sanchez underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, an injury he…
Last week the turnovers and subsequent points that came from said turnovers doomed the Jets before they ever had a chance. Last night the defense was mostly excellent, though far from perfect, and while the offense wasn’t quite perfect either, it was remarkably efficient and that’s the difference between a losing and winning game. The…
Atlanta, Georgia – Matt Ryan doesn’t lose at home, and he certainly doesn’t lose back-to-back home games. At the very least, a Jets team embarrassed in Tennessee and without top wideout Santonio Holmes wasn’t the team to do it. That was the popular thought before the game, but after an impressive and turnover free performance…
Florham Park, NY — The Jets officially announced the signing of wide receiver David Nelson on Wednesday, releasing Ben Obomanu from the active roster. The Obomanu for Nelson swap comes after Obomabu had more penalties (three) than catches (one) in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans. Still, the Jets will be incredibly thin at…
Nashville, TN – With the defense playing about as well as anyone could have hoped through three games, the powers at be knew the Jets would go only as far as their rookie quarterback could take them. After a four turnover, 10 penalty, 38-13, beat down at the hands of the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Geno…
Florham Park, NJ – The Jets were a bad football team a year ago. Like inventing a new word for bad, bad. They were 28th in the league in offense, 30th in passing and their usually dominant defense sprung leaks, ranking 26th against the run. Football Outsiders ranked the Jets 27th in total DVOA and…
FLORHAM PARK, NJ – After a solid preseason debut, Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel got a congratulatory text message from a childhood friend and fellow rookie – Geno Smith. The two young starters met at football camp in high school and stayed in touch throughout college and during the draft process, where they were the…
Florham Park, NJ – Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel could’ve been a New York Jet. In fact, he expected to be. “Definitely,” Manuel said, when asked if he thought the Jets might draft him. “I did think they were one of the teams that were very interested in me. I guess they just wanted to…
