After some posturing and questions about the Jets exploring other options for training camp the team officially announced they will be going back to Cortland this summer.

The Jets have held their training camp at the SUNY Cortland college campus for the past six years, with the one exception of the lockout year when they had to have camp in Florham Park due to the late date the league reopened for business.

Rex Ryan has always liked the idea of getting away for a few weeks to limit distractions and focus on football. Cortland offers no big city distractions and the players are away from their friends and family leaving them to concentrate on football and hoping bonds form amongst teammates from the summer camp vibe.

“I love the fact that we are going back to Cortland. Everyone knows how I feel about going away.” Ryan said in a statement issued by the team. “I think it’s a big part of building our team camaraderie. The community, the school and the people of Cortland have been outstanding and we are all excited to be going back this summer.”

John Idzik was also quoted in the statement saying, “The school and the community have joined together to continually provide a terrific backdrop for our team to come together at a critical stage of our season. I am pleased that we are returning to Cortland for training camp this summer.”

No dates have been announced yet, but expect camp to begin in the last week in July.
